Greater Baghdad is an urgent need

Baghdad, the round city that is proverbial in its splendor, beauty, geographical distribution, and urban expansion, has become fed up with the population explosion, which has distorted it visually and choked it with buildings that lack the basic designs and conditions that large cities need.
The reasons behind this are multiple, the most important of which is the unprecedented migration to it in search of job opportunities from all sides, the absence of housing regulation, and the misuse of power by municipal departments by allowing random construction without controls and dividing large buildings into small plots that are not even suitable for raising birds, under the pretext of the housing crisis that is occurring. Despite what we see, it has been difficult to find many complexes scattered throughout the capital. They were distributed randomly, did not meet the actual need for housing, and lacked the required technical specifications.
Observations or impressions, call them what you like, this is a description of what is happening in the reality of unregulated urban development.
Today, we see that there is a serious government trend to build new cities according to designs that take into account the importance of providing the infrastructure that accommodates them. This signal came from a speech by His Excellency the President in an interview conducted with him by Al-Hadath Channel, and among what he said is that we are in the process of establishing a new financial and economic city characterized by the same specifications. High quality.
Here we would like to demonstrate our vision regarding the new cities that the capital needs in order to remove its bottlenecks and visual distortions. There is a need to establish Greater Baghdad.
how?
To begin with, the need is not limited to the financial and economic city, despite its importance. Rather, in addition to it, we need an administrative city that includes all state institutions, including its ministries, parliament, and government departments
. We also need an industrial city that includes all the workshops and factories that are scattered among residential areas in a way that is harmful to the environment and public taste, and an Iraqi exhibition city as well.
There is also a need to expand beyond the borders of the capital in the four directions, preceded by basic designs by international companies to organize the geographical connection between them with fast railways and annual roads between them, all of this in the sprawling outskirts of Baghdad and outside the center of the capital.
There was another signal from His Excellency the President earlier this week during his meeting with the Malaysian Consultative Alliance delegation regarding the Baghdad Metro. It was an important signal, and we see the need for it to be part of the Greater Baghdad plans to complete the image of Greater Baghdad and thus we have achieved the construction of modern cities that suit the Iraqi environment and live up to the level and potential of the country with its wealth. Natural and human, therefore we need a long-term plan that includes five-year plans for each city. Then we can restore Baghdad’s beauty and cultural and architectural splendor.
The picture may seem like pipe dreams or musings. I say yes, but I ask: Don’t we have the right to dream of a beautiful country as other countries do or brothers in their countries do?
