[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani discussed today, Tuesday, with the Deputy Secretary of the US Treasury, Wali Adeyemo, cooperation between the two countries in the financial, economic and banking fields.
A statement from his media office stated that Al-Sudani received at his residence in Washington at dawn today, Tuesday (Baghdad time), the Under Secretary of the US Treasury, Wally Adeyemo, and the delegation accompanying him, in the presence of the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq.
During the meeting, according to the statement, they discussed areas of cooperation between Iraq and the United States of America, in the financial, banking, and economic fields in general, and the steps taken by the government to reform the financial and banking sector, where the Undersecretary of the Treasury praised the government measures taken to achieve economic reforms and its efforts in optimal investment of energy, as well as the procedures of the Central Bank of Iraq to activate the work of banks. Iraq, and making financial transfers through correspondent banks, which amounted to 80% of the total financial transfers, leading to the completion of work through the platform and the Federal Bank at the end of this year.”
During the meeting, it was emphasized that continued cooperation with the financial and banking reform file, and the possibility of cooperation in rehabilitating banks that were subject to special procedures by the US Treasury, with the aim of reaching compliance with approved international standards, in coordination with the Central Bank of Iraq./End2[/rtl]
