The ministry continued, "The attacks that took place on some restaurants were carried out by groups of outlaws and in no way represent the Popular Mobilization Forces. As for those involved in these incidents, they are now subject to appropriate administrative and disciplinary penalties."
On Friday, June 7, 2024, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the United States is concerned that the Popular Mobilization Forces will not obey the orders of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani.
Miller said in a press conference, “We are concerned that members of the Popular Mobilization Forces do not obey the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces and are participating in acts of violence and destabilization in Iraq and Syria.”
He added, "The attacks on American forces, international coalition forces, Iraqi army personnel, and commercial sites violate Iraq's security and economy."
The spokesman continued by saying, “We will continue to demand that the Iraqi government rein in these parties, and hold them responsible for violating the law.”
