    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Today, Wednesday (June 12, 2024), the representative of Muthanna Governorate, Saad Awad, revealed the secrets of corruption in the governorate, while demanding that some files be transferred from Samawah to the capital, Baghdad.
Awad told “Baghdad Today” that “it is not possible to proceed with construction and reconstruction without a solution to the corruption file, which represents a cancer that plunders the wealth of all governorates without exception,” pointing out, “sending a higher committee from the Prime Minister, headed by the head of the Integrity Commission, to Muthanna to investigate the corruption files.” "It is a correct and important step."
He added that he "presented important files related to several sectors, including financial and administrative corruption in several departments, in addition to demanding that some important files be transferred to Baghdad for consideration and resolution according to paths that lead to providing results that resolve the corruption file."
Awad pointed out that "the file of land distribution in Samawah and the rest of the other cities and the referral of some projects to unreliable companies are all topics that have been followed up and presented to the Supreme Committee for consideration and investigation of the evidence we have."
During his meeting last Sunday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed a group of people from Al-Muthanna Governorate to form a committee headed by the head of the Integrity Commission and the Financial Supervision Bureau, which would visit the governorate. To follow up on reports related to suspicions of corruption and waste of public money, scrutinize them and refer them to audit, and if the defect is proven, an investigation is conducted, the negligent parties are identified, and they are referred to the judiciary.
The committee, headed by the head of the Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, arrived yesterday morning in Al-Muthanna Governorate and used the Commission’s investigation office in the governorate as the committee’s scientific room and headquarters to receive reports on cases of administrative and financial corruption in the various departments of the governorate.
The committee called on all citizens in Muthanna to cooperate through the initiative to report. In order to uncover corruption files and hold those involved accountable,” noting that “the doors are open for them to submit reports supported by evidence; “In order to achieve the highest interest, to preserve public money, and to provide services to the people of the governorate.”
