The Prime Minister's media office stated that the latter participated in the annual ceremony held by the Hikma Movement on the occasion of the Islamic Day for Combating Violence against Women, adding that Al-Sudani delivered a speech on the occasion, during which he praised the efforts of the Hikma Movement in continuing to hold this important conference, which aims to enhance the presence of women, support their effective role, and participate in building society, citing the positions of great women in history such as Lady Khadija the Great, the Lady of the Women of the Worlds Fatima Al-Zahra, Lady Zainab, peace be upon her, and Lady Maryam Al-Batul, who shaped the path of the greatest changes in history.

Al-Sudani stressed - according to the statement - that our society, in all its categories, does not approve or support any form of violence against women, indicating that the government supported the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women, and realized early on that achieving the goals of long-term economic and social reform, and ambitious development plans, pass through the gateway of capable and empowered women.

He pointed to the government's efforts to support women, which culminated in the launch of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women (2023-2030), which includes goals and visions that enable women to advance and succeed, and has developed initiatives that ensure the protection of women, such as the Riyada initiative, and other programs launched by the Supreme Council for Youth targeting young women and men, and the initiative to send 5,000 female and male students to complete their postgraduate studies.

He pointed out that our government includes many female leaders in its administrative institutions, as there are 3 female ministers, 2 women with the rank of undersecretary, 111 women with the rank of general manager, and 47 female assistant general managers, indicating that we sought to establish the Supreme Council for Women's Affairs, to be a direct planning and executive gateway for all decisions related to women's development.

He continued, "Soon, the Council will discuss in a specialized workshop all the observations raised regarding the Personal Status Law, noting that the Council launched the initiative (the National Team for Iraqi Women) to develop the skills of young women in various fields. About 5,000 young women will be selected from all governorates, and the (National Women's Training Program) has been approved to train women working in the private sector.

He revealed that women constituted 55% of the total number of those appointed from the medical group within the law of progression for those in medical and health professions, and our government employed (24,922) of the first graduates and those who hold higher degrees in various specialties.

Al-Sudani added, our government continues to reduce unemployment rates among women, which are close to 28%, which it represented two years ago. We face challenges in reducing the illiteracy rate among women and are working to combat it, as it reached 17% two years ago, by developing plans and programs."

In a separate context, he condemned the massacre committed by the Zionist occupation forces at dawn today in a school housing displaced persons in the Al-Daraj neighborhood in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the martyrdom of more than 100 people who were performing the dawn prayer.
