{Local: Al Furat News} Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab, revealed the size of the country's water reserves.
"This year's water storage is 17.5 billion cubic meters, an increase of 10 billion over last year," Dhiab said in a press statement.
He attributed "this increase to imports and water management," indicating that "the drying up of the marshes is due to changing the water system in the Tigris and Euphrates basins in the upper reaches of the rivers through the construction of dams and reservoirs in Turkey, whose storage currently amounts to 89 billion cubic meters in its dams."
He added, "We will impose fees on the use of water in agriculture."
The Minister of Water Resources pointed out that "the lack of allocations is one of the problems facing the drought and water scarcity crisis."
