    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
A source close to the Iraqi factions revealed, today, Tuesday (September 24, 2024), the truth about the presence of faction leaders in Lebanon, while indicating that the battle in Lebanon is considered fateful for the axis of resistance.
The source said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "The Iraqi factions believe in the unity of the resistance axis and see that the Lebanese front is strategic in the battle with the Zionist enemy, and they have indeed harnessed all their capabilities in this direction."
He added, "It is not possible to deny or confirm the presence of some leaders of the Iraqi factions in Lebanon, but it can be noted that this front enjoys continuous support from the factions and the latter will not hesitate to take any decisions no matter how difficult they are in supporting it, even if by sending the elite of the factions when necessary if necessary."
The source pointed out that, "In the event of an invasion of any Lebanese territory, the capabilities of the factions will not stop at the fire cover in targeting the Zionist sites, but there will be a greater escalation and more capabilities will be transferred to support the Lebanese resistance, noting that "the battle of Lebanon is fateful for the axis of resistance and the coming days will certainly be pregnant with surprises."
While pagers were exploding in the bodies of the Lebanese on Wednesday, September 18, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant visited the Ramat David Air Base, the largest base in the northern region and one of the three main air bases in the occupying state, and announced from there that “the center of gravity is moving north,” inaugurating what he called “a new phase of the war.”
The next day, September 19, Israel launched the most intense airstrikes on Lebanon since the start of the war on Gaza about a year ago, and perhaps the most severe airstrikes in many years, according to confirmations from Lebanese sources to Reuters.
The strikes targeted the southern Lebanese villages of Adshit al-Qusayr, Qabrikha, Bani Hayyan, Markaba, Rab Thalatheen, Majdal and Mahrouna, where hundreds of thousands of people live. Israeli warplanes also flew over the capital Beirut, deliberately breaking the sound barrier in a mock raid aimed at terrorizing the capital's residents.
The bombing continued daily without stopping since then, and on Sunday and Monday, September 22 and 23, the raids became more abundant and violent, and the occupation army announced that the fighters attacked about 1,300 Hezbollah targets in southern and eastern Lebanon.
These escalatory steps were consistent with the statements of Israeli leaders and the simultaneous movements of the occupation army towards the Lebanese front, which accelerated during the last two weeks.
People gathered outside a hospital where more than 1,000 people, including Hezbollah members, civilians and medics, were wounded when the pagers they use to communicate across Lebanon exploded (Reuters)
Even before the pager and radio explosions, the IDF had sent the 98th Division, with an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 commandos and paratroopers, north, to join the 36th Armored Division, which the IDF had redeployed north from Gaza earlier this year.
In addition to these units, the occupation army includes the 91st Division, which is the main division responsible for securing the Israeli border with Lebanon, as well as the reserve forces for these units.
Observers fear that the Pager bombings were an Israeli prelude aimed at confusing Hezbollah before implementing a scenario of a comprehensive invasion of southern Lebanon, and perhaps of all of Lebanon, including the capital Beirut, as the most fanatical wing of the occupation government and army demands, which portends the outbreak of a regional war that extends beyond the borders of Lebanon itself, as experts believe.
In contrast, regional and international parties that fear the consequences of war are racing against time to contain the escalation before a comprehensive confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah becomes a reality, a confrontation that will have much broader repercussions than the Israeli war of extermination against the Gaza Strip, which is approaching the completion of its first year.
