Member of the Parliamentary Oil and Natural Resources Committee, Basem Al-Gharibawi, confirmed on Wednesday that the oil-producing provinces have been suffering from not receiving their dues from petrodollar revenues for more than 10 years.
Al-Gharibawi told Al-Maalouma, "The oil-producing governorates have been suffering since 2011 from not receiving their petrodollar dues, despite the appeals and demands for their right to these amounts."
He added, "Wasit Governorate, as one of the oil-producing governorates, is still waiting for the government to deliver its dues from petrodollar revenues, as it still has about 1.4 trillion dinars owed by the government."
He pointed out that "there is difficulty in obtaining these amounts, as this matter is one of the problems that the producing provinces are still suffering from, in addition to other problems related to the oil sector, including the lack of control over oil smuggling in the Kurdistan region, which affects the producing southern provinces."
