The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded the Texas Veterans Commission the Abraham Lincoln Pillar of Excellence Award. The Texas Veterans Commission won the state submission under the innovative state program category for the Military Veteran Peer Network, a peer networking program that supports Veterans mental health.

“This award from the VA demonstrates Texas’ commitment to Veterans after their service,” said Thomas Palladino, Executive Director of the Texas Veterans Commission. “Our responsibility to Veterans continues daily and we are honored to be recognized for the outstanding work we do in our programs.”

The Abraham Lincoln Pillar of Excellence award was first established last year by the VA in order to recognize state partners for programs that support Veterans. This is the second time the Texas Veterans Commission was recognized, last year for the establishment of the Strike Force and Fully Developed Claims Teams.
