    Confirmed member of the Investment Committee and the parliamentary economy Najiba Najib, on Tuesday, parliament authorized the government to borrow two billion dollars from the IMF and one billion, four hundred million dollars from the World Bank to cover the deficit and balance the country. Najib, said that "the parliament said the government granted the power to borrow two billion dollars from the International Monetary Fund and one billion, four hundred million dollars from the World Bank." She noted that "the government's measures in this regard has not yet been completed," pointing out that "the state would take some measures and means to bridge the current deficit."

    ???Seems interesting to me that there is a supposed crisis that mandated them borrowing 3.4 billion when they have hundreds of billions in the reserves... seems like they are holding on to those at all cost right now.

    yes, but doesn't the reserves stay in control of the central bank and cannot be used to fund the budget deficit?

    Why would the IMF and WB be willing to lend money? Perhaps because they know Iraq will have no issues repaying????
