Report: Judge orders State Department to turn over Huma Abedin documents
A federal judge ruled Monday that the State Department is required to hand over certain documents related to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit about Hillary Clinton’s top aide Huma Abedin, Politico reports.
The State Department has until the end of September to finish a review of documents provided by the FBI and has until Oct. 14 to hand over all “non-exempt” documents to the conservative group Judicial Watch, Politico’s report said.
The report notes that Judicial Watch’s lawsuit focuses on how Abedin was allowed to move from serving as deputy chief of staff at the State Department to serving as a “special government employee,” which allowed her to do work at a consulting firm on the side.
U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan’s ruling came the same day that Abedin announced she was separating from her husband former Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-New York, after a New York Post report published a photo of Weiner in his underwear with his son lying on his bed as he reportedly sexted with another woman.
