Final Score: Devils 5 – Blue Jackets 1

    Game Summary

The Jackets on the second half of a back to back were not sharp at all. The comeback in Pittsburgh may have taken a lot out of them and they just weren’t able to bring that same energy against the Devils.

Seregi Bobrovsky got the start and in hindsight that probably wasn’t the right decision. He did not play well stopping 25 of 29 shots for an .862 save percentage. Bobrovsky was far from the only player who had a bad game.

The top line of Nick Folingo, Alexander Wennberg and Brandon Saad, had a rare off night. Due to the score the Jackets dominated the possession game, but every player on this line was under a 50% Corsi. They along with Lukas Sedlak were the only four players to not be at least break even.

Players are going to have off nights, it happens. It would have been excellent if they had of stopped up and got a couple big goals, but it just wasn’t meant to be this game.

Another poor area for the Jackets was their power play. After not getting a power play in three of their last four games, they got two in this game. They couldn’t get anything going recording just a single shot. This was another opportunity for the skill players to step up and make a play to keep the Jackets in the game, but again it just didn’t happen.

The lone good thing that happened for the Jackets was the goal scored by Matt Calvert. It was a short-handed goal and came off a great pass by William Karlsson.

Karlsson does a great job behind the net to force a turnover, Calvert is alone in front of the net and Karlsson gets him the puck for the one-timer.
