Final Score: Blue Jackets 3 – Devils 0

    Game Summary

The Jackets started this home and home with the Devils with a victory. The Jackets weren’t the sharpest, whether it was because it a back to back or due to New Jersey’s trap game, they didn’t get a ton of chances or opportunities. They did outshoot the Devils by a slim 22-20 margin. The Jackets as we’ve seen numerous times this season did well to convert on their limited opportunities.

When things aren’t going well, the cliché is always get to the net and get pucks towards it. No one on the Jackets does a better job at that than Boone Jenner. He is always the crease and causing havoc for opposing goalies and defencemen.

Boone picks up his 13th goal of the season here doing what he does best. In the process Brandon Dubinsky as you can see in the tweet recorded his 400th career point on the play.
The Jackets got themselves a gritty goal, and then they got themselves a beautiful goal, thanks to a great individual effort from Oliver Bjorkstrand.

This goal shows how far Bjorkstrand has come this season. Earlier in the season, he probably picks one of those first lanes and get the puck on net. Now however he has the confidence and the ability to read the play and make moves like that to get him into the perfect scoring area. He always had the ability and the skills, now it appears he is more comfortable with the speed of the NHL and can make these fantastic plays.

Bjorkstrand kept his strong play up picking up an assist on Sam Gagner’s second goal in two games.

Bjorkstrand makes a very subtle play here to shift the puck over to Gagner. He shows that same awareness he displayed above. His strong game was rewarded by receiving some time on the first power play unit in place of Gagner. Gagner looks to be heating back up. Goal scorers are streaky and Gagner is no exception. Off one of the worst cold streaks of his career, he now looks to be on a hot streak.

Finally, what else can be said about the play of Sergei Bobrovsky. He has given up one goal in his past three games and has posted back to back shutouts for the first time in his career. He didn’t face a ton of shots, but was there when the team needed him. He is playing on another level right now.
