Sharks losing streak hits four, Pacific lead all but gone

Its often said that it's lonely at the top. The San Jose Sharks enjoyed being alone atop the Pacific Division. Yet suddenly its getting crowded up there. And by the time they meet Dallas on Friday their hold on the lead could be gone.

A week ago the Sharks were on well on their way to running away with the division, enjoying a nine point cushion. Not anymore. The heat is on following a four-game losing streak that started last Friday and has extended into the week.

Four games in five nights - all losses.

The Sharks dropped games to St. Louis, Anaheim, Dallas and now Minnesota in a span of five days, shrinking that division lead to four points.

San Jose's offense is not clicking. The special teams are limping to the finish line and confidence is wavering. Especially on special teams.

    Powerless Play...

The Sharks went 0 for 5 vs. the Wild and have just four goals in the last 35 attempts. If they would have converted on 20% of those we may be talking about a long winning steak instead.

San Jose's 16.6% success rate ranks an embarrassing 24th in league.

    Goalies not the problem...

Martin Jones and Aaron Dell have been victimized by a lack of offense in front of them.

Since the 4-1 loss to the Blues on Friday, the Sharks lost by scores of 2-1, 1-0 and 3-2.

Where has Brent Burns disappeared to?

Burns has ZERO goals in the last 14 games and ZERO points in seven.

Burns went from MVP to MIA in just a few short weeks. Doug Wilson better pony up a reward so we can hurry up and find him before it's too late.

The Sharks have a couple days off to regroup before facing Dallas again on Friday.

    Thanks for reading,
