    News / The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad considered Iraq's position towards
    the Syrian refugees as “impressive" and confirmed that the United States
    gave nearly $ 210 million in support of humanitarian and relief efforts
    to Syrian refugees.

    The statement of the U.S. embassy reported
    for "Shafaq News", stated that "a high-level delegation from the U.S.
    Embassy in Baghdad confirmed its continuing commitment of the embassy to
    help the Syrian refugees in Iraq during a visit that he had concluded
    on 21 of January to the refugee camps in Al-Qaem area in the western
    part of Anbar province.”

    The statement said that "both of
    Assistant Chief of U.S. Embassy Mission, ​​Ambassador, James Knight, the
    Missions’ Director of U.S. Agency for International Development USAID ,
    Thomas Stahl and the Refugees coordinator of the embassy , Angelina
    Shen had visited the camps to be informed directly on the living
    conditions in the camp inhibited now by nearly 7500 Syrian refugees “.

    The
    statement added that "the U.S. government has so far gave nearly $ 210
    million in support of humanitarian efforts to relief Syrian refugees,
    including the funding presented to the High Commissioner of the United
    Nations for Refugees, UNICEF and the World Food Program to support the
    Syrian refugees in Iraq and the region."

    The statement pointed
    out that "the deputy director of the USAID Mission for International
    Development Stahl reassured the residents of the camp about the
    consistently of the United States to work with the Iraqi government and
    partners in humanitarian organizations to improve assistance to Syrian
    refugees in Iraq and to ensure that the aid reaches the people who need
    it."

    According to the United Nations High Commissioner for
    Refugees (UNHCR) there are more than 75,000 displaced people in Iraq
    Syrian.

    The United States provides for the displaced; food,
    medical supplies, basic health care, emergency supplies, shelters, clean
    water, it also provides awareness of personal hygiene, necessary
    materials for it and other relief supplies, including blankets and
    heating equipment to help those affected by the crisis in Syria.
