Sources: A prospective military parade in Baghdad causes the postponement of the mid-July conference

Political Since 2017-07-11 at 17:57 (Baghdad time)

    Baghdad - Mawazine News
Informed sources said on Tuesday the postponement of the two Sunni Arab conferences scheduled for July 15 in Baghdad and Erbil.
The sources told Mawazine News that "the Sunni forces agreed to postpone the two conferences scheduled to be held in Baghdad and Arbil on Saturday, July 15 this year," pointing out that the postponement was agreed upon, but no date has yet to agree on a new date for the two conferences.
The sources pointed out that the postponement came in response to the desire of the representative of the International Alliance, which told political forces the importance of maintaining victory and that "any subsequent steps must be considered."
He explained that the Prime Minister informed the organizing body of the conference that he would coincide with a military parade and that he requested the postponement of the conference in Baghdad, and that Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jubouri approved the request for postponement, considering that this was an opportunity to gather the two conferences in one conference where sources reported that the authorities in the Kurdistan region, They plan to hold a conference in a closed hall in Arbil and link their activities to a television conference with the Baghdad conference.
Mawazine News learned that Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jubouri went to Erbil to meet with Sunni leaders on a new date for the conference.
The member of the House of Representatives Mahmoud Mashhadani and a number of deputies of the Union of Forces oppose the postponement of their conference scheduled to be held on July 13, at the time told a negotiator close to the mobility of conferences / Mawazine News / that a delegation went to Mashhadani to persuade him to postpone the conference also.
The sources pointed out that countries supporting the leaders of the year withdrew their support and that the two conferences will turn into bilateral meetings to develop a roadmap towards understandings leading to a comprehensive conference.
Since June, Sunni forces have announced that a conference will be held in Baghdad on July 15, which has been rejected by some Shiite political forces and figures, accusing the conference of bringing Sunni figures to justice.
The office of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi confirmed earlier this week that he refused to attend figures wanted by the Sunni Arab Congress in Baghdad.
