Unannounced meetings between Baghdad and Erbil to dampen the atmosphere and overcome the repercussions of the referendum
Baghdad / Mohammed Sabah
Officials of the federal government are holding secret meetings with counterparts in the Kurdistan Regional Government in preparation for starting a dialogue out of the repercussions of the referendum in the Kurdistan region.
The source of the information said that contacts led by some local and international mediators in the past few days have contributed to easing the tension and bringing the views closer to Baghdad and Erbil, which led to an agreement to seek to resolve all problems and differences through dialogue.
This situation coincides with the decision taken by the blocks of change and the Islamic Group and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan return of their deputies in the Federal Parliament to Baghdad and end their suspension of meetings of the Council.
The deputy of the Kurdistan Islamic Group Zana Said said in a statement to (range), that "a government delegation from Baghdad arrived in Erbil and held, away from the limelight, meetings with officials in the Kurdistan region to discuss how to get out of the referendum crisis and the closure of airports and land borders. The United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and France are making great efforts to bring the views of the federal government and the Kurdistan region closer to the backdrop of the referendum on self-determination, which calls for calm and non-escalation.
The Kurdistan region held a referendum on self-determination on 25 September last, which calls for Baghdad to cancel its results before entering into any direct dialogues. Baghdad has banned travel to and from Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports and closed the land borders of the province.
Said said that "contacts made by some intermediaries between the federal government and the Kurdistan region in the past days contributed significantly to the convergence of views between the two teams," wishing that "these dialogues continue until solutions to the current crisis."
"These meetings pave the way for the start of negotiations between the parties directly and publicly after the agreement on all the points of contention that lies in the actions taken by the government and parliament against the region."
The House of Representatives voted last Wednesday on a final version of a parliamentary resolution guaranteeing thirteen paragraphs calling for the imposition of economic, administrative and technical sanctions on the Kurdistan region and requiring the commander-in-chief of the armed forces to redeploy security forces in the disputed areas.
The deputies of the Change blocs, the Islamic Group and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan are due to attend Tuesday's parliamentary session. The MP Zana Said that these blocks "agreed to terminate the suspension of their presence in parliamentary sessions and decided to return to Baghdad again to resume their participation in parliamentary sessions."
For its part, confirms the Kurdistan Democratic Party's parliamentary bloc, the existence of a number of initiatives to contain the crisis between the federal government and the Kurdistan region, primarily the French initiative.
The Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc that "entering these initiatives needs to lift the embargo imposed by the federal government on the Kurdistan region."
And the member of the bloc Renas Jano (range), "The invitation of the religious reference in Najaf is welcome as well as the initiative presented by Vice President Iyad Allawi," stressing that "
The Vice President of the Republic Iyad Allawi, has launched, a few days ago, an initiative to contain the crisis between Baghdad and Erbil and to find understandings and appropriate solutions.

The House of Representatives decision Imad John to host the President of the Republic by saying that "the request for hosting submitted by some of the deputies did not meet the requirements and procedures formal and legal," noting that "it needs signatures for more than fifty deputies."
