    province - Journal News Basra province suffers from a major financial crisis, in contrast to the educational, health and service situation in the province, despite the fact that the province is considered the economic capital of Iraq because of its wealth of large resources supporting the state budget, most notably oil.
    The first deputy governor of Basra, Mohammad Taher al-Tamimi, told the «Journal News», on Tuesday, that "Basra's budget has reached zero, as there is deterioration in the health and service and educational," and called "the central government to release the dues of the province."
    He added that "Basra did not see any significant changes, after ascending Asaad al-Eidani as governor, because of the financial crisis experienced by the province."
    "The academic year is threatened with suspension because of the financial crisis experienced by the province," says the official of relations and information in the education of Basra, in the name of Al-Qatrani. He called on the Iraqi parliament, the prime minister and related parties to find appropriate and quick solutions to solve the education crisis in the province. "He said.
    "The hospital relied heavily on local government funds, but the financial crisis forced it to cut aid," Ali al-Eidani, director of the pediatric hospital, told the Journal News.
    He pointed out that "the Ministry of Health announced that it does not have financial allocations to the hospital, as the allocations are used to buy some medicines that send to the hospital, which represents 30% of the total need of the hospital, while the hospital management to provide the remaining 70% through donations. 
    The province of Basra (southern Iraq), which is the economic artery of the country because of the possession of large oil fields and reservoirs, suffered during the last period of a severe political crisis as a result of the arrest of the President of the provincial council Sabah al-Bezouni and sentenced to three years on charges of bribery and the resignation of Governor Majed Nasrawi, followed by meetings and discussions Has resulted in the selection of Asaad al-Eidani governor of Basra in August.
