California has declared a state of emergency in three cities due to the spread of the hepatitis A virus, in conjunction with the massive fires that have continued since Sunday in large parts of the state.
In a statement released Friday, California Governor Jerry Brown said the state of emergency included cities such as Los Angeles, San Diego and Santa Cruz, where hepatitis A cases were found.
In accordance with the emergency situation decision, the State Public Health Department should urgently secure and distribute the vaccines in order to control the virus in those cities and prevent the expansion of its damage.
On the other hand, Dr. "Gilles Chavez," epidemiologist in the Department of Public Health in the state, that the state of emergency helps the Department to accelerate its operations and procedures in the designated areas.
Chavez said in a statement to the American media that the department distributed 81,000 vaccine doses provided by the central authorities in California to fight the virus and that they have a problem in securing potions after the increase in demand.
Local authorities in San Diego last month decided to wash large parts of the city's alleys and streets because of the spread of Hepatitis A virus, which killed 16 people.
This comes at a time when the state authorities are busy with huge fires that broke out last Sunday night in 17 areas, killing 36 people. C
