The Syrian government expressed its surprise that the UN Security Council is unable to stop and condemn Israeli attacks, accusing Israel of supporting terrorist groups in Syria.
In a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said, "The Israeli occupation committed a new aggression against a military site in the Quneitra countryside, in flagrant violation of the separation of forces agreement. This aggression came after the Israeli occupation tools of the terrorists under the guidance and coordination with him mortar shells landed in an empty area within the occupied territories to take it as an excuse to carry out its aggression.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that this new attack "a new episode of collusion between the Israeli occupation and armed terrorist groups and a desperate attempt to support these groups."
"Syria renews its warning of the serious repercussions of such repeated acts of aggression, which can not be interpreted but support terrorism and its criminal organizations and defy Security Council resolutions by Israel and its supporters," the ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry pointed out that Syria "is most surprised to find that the Security Council is unable to stop and condemn these Israeli aggressions because they constitute a flagrant violation of the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and the rules of international law and all relevant resolutions."
