The Iraqi government announced on Monday the launch of its plan to combat corruption gradually, and confirmed that the results will appear soon, indicating that the use of foreign expertise came to follow up the money smuggled and access to those involved in theft.
Government spokesman Saad al-Hadithi said in a press statement that "the Council of Ministers has an integrated system to combat corruption," noting that "the activation of the Supreme Council to combat corruption in order to take its role in monitoring cases of waste of public money."
He pointed out that "the use of international expertise comes to take advantage of them in the investigation and tracking of money smuggled and the arrest of those involved in its crimes."
Al-Hadithi stressed that "the government has established over the past years solid foundations to combat corruption, which includes closing the ports on money gangs through auditing and monitoring the work of state institutions to prevent any outlet that allows waste of public money or stolen."
The spokesman pointed out that "the government began to implement the plan gradually and coordinate in the escalation," that "the coming days will show results on the ground through the recovery of looted money and expose those involved in theft and hold them accountable according to law."
Al-Hadithi said that "there is a government determination to resolve the battle of corruption with victory as our fight against terrorism ended with the liberation of Iraqi territories."
