Parliamentary Finance: Ministry of Commerce data on the ration is inaccurate
Warned the member of the Finance Committee parliamentary Mahasen Hamdoun of continuing rates of population growth, which is not matched by any absorptive programs, for example the housing sector, which has a deficit of more than 3 million housing units, confirming that the adoption of ration card to estimate the population of Iraq is inaccurate.
Hamadoun said in a press statement that the figures are estimated, as Iraq has not conducted any official census since 1997 because of differences that emerged after 2003 in the disputed areas between the federal government and the Kurdistan region ». She pointed out that the Central Agency is based in its estimates on the ration card, a program to distribute food rations to the population since the imposition of the embargo on the country in the nineties of the last century ».
She confirmed that the figures on which the Ministry of Commerce is based on the rationing system, which has overwhelmed Iraq's population by 37 million, are inaccurate because of the refusal of a large proportion of the population to modify their data in case of death in a family member. And the increase in the number of registered individuals in several Iraqi cities, not to mention the problems of displacement, where IDP families received their share in the new areas and the names of their members remain in their cities of origin »pointing out that the housing projects adopted by the government does not meet the deficit only negligible proportions are negligible.
"The problems do not stop at this point, but reach the services sector. There are water and energy, and the number of schools, universities and hospitals are all deficit and after years the deficit will increase, causing a problem for the government then."
