    The Ministry of Interior confirmed that it is continuing to open the closed roads in the capital, while noting that the number of open roads reached 250 streets, while the General Directorate of Traffic confirmed that the opening of roads will also include the narrow alleys.
    Interior Ministry spokesman Sa'd Maan said in a statement to Al-Mada that "work on the issue of lifting concrete blocks and opening closed roads is ongoing according to the instructions of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi." 
    Maan pointed out that "the opening of roads in the capital Baghdad is coordinated between the Baghdad Operations Command and the General Traffic Directorate in addition to the Secretariat of Baghdad and the Ministry of Interior." 
    Maan continued, "In the area of ​​Karkh has been opened about 150 streets, while the number of open roads in the Rusafa 100 street and this is an initial step to open the rest of the other streets."
    Maan pointed out that "the opening of 250 streets certainly is a message of reassurance to the citizen that the issue of opening roads continue to implement the directives of the Prime Minister." 
    Maan added that "the effort is continuing to open the roads and these issues will ease the burden on citizens and coincide with the victory of Iraq on the Daash," noting that "there is an intention to open more important ways." 
    He added that "there is a plan by the end of the current year and the beginning of next year there will be no closed road in the capital Baghdad." 
    For his part, the Director General of the General Traffic Directorate Brig. Gen. Ammar Walid said in a statement to the "range", "The plan to open the roads are continuing almost daily, where there are tours in different areas." 
    Walid in the "New Baghdad area recently there was a campaign in it, while will include other areas in the next few days."
    He pointed out that "the plan aims to open roads, even in the alleys and not the public roads, as there are some alleys closed for no reason and therefore will be opened." 
    On the road to Mohammed al-Qasim Walid said that "there have been amendments to the street by adding additional means of clarification of the iron barriers," while stressing that "the road will remain open and there is no intention to close it." 
    The secretariat of Baghdad, commented on the incidents that occurred on the road of Mohammed al-Qasim rapid, pledging to take all actions against violators. 
    "The accident on the Mohammed Al Qasim Highway was a result of the driver's disregard for the safety and security warnings launched by the Municipality of Baghdad and promoted several days before the opening of the road, which were transmitted by the various media and published extensively through social media sites," the secretariat said in a statement.
    The secretariat added that it "took legal action against the offending driver, especially as the competent authorities deposited him in prison for violating the instructions," asserting that "the news of his death is a disgrace." 
    Earlier, Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi called on all operations leaders and security leaders in Baghdad and the provinces to open the main and branch streets closed by personalities, parties and influential people. 
    The prime minister's office said in a statement, "Abadi ordered all operations leaders and security leaders in Baghdad and the provinces to open the main streets and sub-closed by personalities and parties and influential." 
    He added that "Abadi also ordered to take into account the development of plans to protect citizens and visitors to the state departments from targeting terrorism."
