China's investment in solar energy revives clean energy markets globally

China's solar sector recovery last year helped drive global investment in
renewable clean energy technology to record highs, a new study showed.
The study, conducted by the Bloomberg Foundation for the financing of new energy, indicated that the total volume of global investment increased by 3 percent, compared with the decline in 2016, to reach 333.5 billion dollars, offset the decline in investments in Japan Germany and Britain.
The published data are the second best annual data to date, after the sector recorded an investment volume of $ 360.3 billion in 2015.
"The total volume of investments recorded in 2017 is the best given the capital costs of solar technology, which continues to decline sharply," said John Moore, "He said.
The volume of investment in solar energy was 160.8 billion dollars in 2017, an increase of 18 percent, although the capital cost of megawatts fell by one quarter. China accounts for about half the volume of investment, about 86.5 billion dollars, up 24 percent, according to the study.
"China has boosted its solar capacity by about 20 gigawatts in 2017, exceeding the forecast," said Justin Wu, Asia-Pacific Asia Pacific director.
Investment in wind power also declined 12 percent last year to $ 107.2 billion after the 2016 rise
