Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi announced the ministry's intention to raise the production of the North Oil Company to 1.5 million barrels per day after signing a contract with British company BP.

Al-Luaibi told a news conference that the ministry had signed a contract to develop the world's largest oil field with British BP, whose production is currently down to 35,000 barrels a day.

Al-Luaibi said that the fields in the Dabas district (Havana and Bai Hassan) will resume production and export during the month, adding that he will visit Turkey soon to agree on completion of talks on the export of oil produced from Kirkuk through the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
