Are these parties banned from participating in elections?
MP for the National Alliance, Ali al-Safi, said that the members of the parliament voted by a majority of the attendees on amendments to the law of the election of the House of Representatives for the year 2013, without explaining the percentages of the vote.
He added that the amendments included "must be a candidate for membership of the House of Representatives has a bachelor's degree or equivalent and not be members of the armed forces or independent bodies," in reference to the "popular crowd."
He explained that the amendments also included "the allocation of a seat in the province of Wasit (south), in parliament to the Kurds" Fili "Shiites.
The law previously stipulated that the candidate must obtain a preparatory certificate only, while the Faili Kurds did not have any seat in the previous election.
Al-Safi pointed out that the amendments included "obligating the concerned parties to provide the safe environment for holding elections, the return of the displaced to their areas, and that the voting be electronic in all regions and not to the parties that are running the armed wings," referring to political organizations linked to the " .
