The Independent High Electoral Commission revealed, on Saturday, the number of alliances participating in the Kurdistan Parliament elections.
The spokeswoman for the commission, Jumana Al-Ghalay, said in a statement to Mawazine News, "The process of registering entities resulted in the registration of 139 lists and 13 parties, while the number of individual candidates for the Christian components reached 19 candidates."
Al-Ghalay added, "The candidates of the Christian component are distributed as follows: 7 candidates in Erbil, 4 in Sulaymaniyah, and 8 in Dohuk, and the number of candidates from the Turkmen component reached 20 candidates, including 14 in Erbil and 6 in Sulaymaniyah, while the number of individual candidates reached 85 candidates."
She indicated that "the draw for candidates will begin in the first half of next August."
