Washington confirms its support for the Iraqi economy

"While we maintain our strong security partnership to ensure the permanent defeat of the terrorist organization, we seek to reactivate our political and economic relations to support the Iraqi economy in meeting the challenges of the 21st century and meeting Iraq's reconstruction needs," the embassy added. "We will continue to strengthen our ties to build a multi-dimensional relationship through trade, education, cultural exchange, law enforcement, environmental protection, energy and other vital fields," she said. "The United States is also committed to supporting Iraq's continued participation in the IMF program to ensure financial stability and promote economic reform," the embassy said. "Our governments are working to form a working group to address long-standing trade disputes to promote bilateral economic relations and to signal to US companies that Iraq is open to business," she said.
