The postponement of provincial elections will cost the state 200 billion dinars (about 167.47 million dollars), said the legal committee of the Iraqi parliament.

MP Kamel al-Zaidi, a member of the committee, said that the date of determining the local elections is in the court of the government and the Commission, referring to the demands of the government and some blocs, to be conducted alongside the parliamentary elections scheduled in May next to save expenses.

Al-Zaidi said that the Commission revealed its excuse for holding both and demanded the postponement of local elections, pointing to the vote of Iraqi MPs, to authorize the government and parliament to determine the date of the new local elections and expressed his opinion by the end of this year

and pointed out that the ball is now the playground of the government and the Commission to set a new date For provincial council elections, which have yet to be discussed.
