Tunisian Ambassador Ibrahim Rizki said on Monday that the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Tunisia currently amounts to 12 million dollars, pointing out that Tunisia welcomes the step of Iraq to open an air route between Tunisia and Baghdad, pointing to the Tunisian Energy Minister will visit Baghdad next month.
Ambassador Ibrahim al-Rizki said in an interview with "Economy News" that "the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Tunisia currently amounts to 12 million dollars, mostly electrical and agricultural materials, and we hope to increase the volume of Tunisian exports during the coming period," noting that the volume of trade exchange between Iraq Tunisia before 2003 was 3 billion dollars. "
He pointed out that the Tunisian-Iraqi relations are good and aspire to develop them by creating joint partnerships and investments in Iraq or Tunisia. The Tunisian government encourages the public and private sectors of the two countries to work in partnership and activate the free trade agreement signed with Iraq in 2002. "We are working to hold the Tunisian-Iraqi Joint Committee at the level of Minister of Foreign Affairs in the coming days. In addition, the Tunisian Energy Minister will visit Iraq next month and participate in the fifth qualitative exhibition of electricity, Electricity, industry, business and the private sector. "
He stressed that "Tunisia will participate in two tourist exhibitions will be held in Baghdad, specifically at the Hotel Babylon on 17-18 of this month and the exhibition market travel, which will be held on 20-23 March, and will participate more than 10 Tunisian tour operators in the exhibition," explaining that "4,000 An Arab visited Tunisia last year and we are working to stimulate tourism between the two countries, especially as Tunisia granted great facilities for travel and tourism offices and we held several meetings and gave them a map to encourage the Iraqi tourist to choose Tunisia as a tourist destination.
He pointed out that "we are currently coordinating with the Iraqi Ministry of Transport to activate a direct air link between Baghdad and Tunisia and includes a weekly trip, and provided all facilities to the Iraqis, especially since we can not open an air line between Tunisia and Baghdad because of the lack of our fleet, There is no condition for the opening of the air line, especially as it is a profitable commercial line to Iraq, and we want the interest of the Ministry of Transport and Iraqi Airways because the Tunisian fleet is unable in the current period to organize flights to Iraq, "noting that" Tunisia has invited the Minister of Transport Kazem al-Hamami to visit and sign Agreement with the Civil Aviation Authority ".
He pointed out that "Tunisia encourages organized tourism with tourism companies and not individual tourism because we are looking for the comfort of tourists," adding that "Tunisian companies have experience in the Iraqi market and we have a Tunisian company currently working in the Iraqi oil sector, specifically in the province of Basra in cooperation with a Russian company, Is ready to help Iraq in the field of electricity because Tunisia is a country known to possess advanced technology in the electrical industry, and there is coordination with the Ministry of Electricity and some private companies to establish a joint investment project, specifically with Diyala.
He added that "Tunisia is ready to refine Iraqi oil and all that encourages and supports the Iraqi industry," pointing out that "Tunisia sent an official invitation to the Minister of Trade and Salman Jumaili and Health Minister Adela Hamoud to visit Tunisia and discuss prospects for cooperation between the two countries."
He noted that "the visit of the Minister of Health will include the signing of agreements in the field of environmental and health."
He stressed that the Tunisian product is characterized by international standards and subject to international control is a high quality product, especially as 76% of our exports go to European countries.
