US National Intelligence Director Daniel Coates warned of the growing role of Iranian mullahs in financing terrorism and its threat to global security.
"Iran will remain the leading nation in the care of terrorism, especially in the Middle East," Coates said at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.
"Tehran's provocative activities will further escalate conflicts, especially in Iraq, Syria and Yemen, threatening the United States and its allies," the official said.
"Iran has benefited from the funds it obtained after the Iranian nuclear agreement to finance terrorism," Koets said.
He warned of the danger of the Lebanese Hezbollah, which said it would "continue through Iranian support its activities to destabilize the region, through its intervention in Syria and directing other armed militias."
Coates said Russia would continue its plans to carry out cyber attacks against the United States and its European allies, warning that China, Iran and North Korea would continue their efforts to improve their capabilities to carry out similar attacks.
Coates warned of what he called "the threat of terrorists growing up in the United States and posing an escalating threat."
On the other hand, the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Team Robert Ashley, warned of the arsenal of Iranian missiles in the region, which said the range of up to more than two thousand kilometers.
Ashley denied that Iran currently possessed intercontinental weapons, but said it had the potential to own them later.
