Basra province announced that it seeks to become a free trade zone, benefiting from being the "economic capital of Iraq."
The first deputy governor of Basra, Mohammad Taher al-Tamimi said in a press statement: "The law of Basra, the capital of Iraq's economic will allow the local government" to move and benefit from the experiences of neighboring countries, and the use of local expertise, and economic institutions effective work according to administrative boundaries to improve their existing if they were invested in the form "
He added:" We seek to transform the province into a free trade zone, and exercise its potential available for the establishment of economic development zones to be attractive to investment by international companies. "
