BAGHDAD - Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi on Saturday voted in a polling station in central Baghdad's Karrada district.
"Iraq today is strong and united after the eradication of terrorism," Abbadi said in a press statement during the vote.
"Citizens are the ones who decide how to be their future effectively, so that their future will be in their hands and not in the hands of the minority," he said. "This is an invitation to all voters to participate in the elections."
He pointed out that "according to the results announced by the Commission, there is a good proportion of the vote for private," noting that "there is a defect in some areas, we follow, we hope to repair the imbalance."
He continued, "The evaluation of the work of the Commission will be after the elections, by citizens."
"The Commission does not allow the Prime Minister or anyone else to examine voting machines inside polling stations," he concluded.
It is noteworthy that the general voting process was launched Saturday morning in all Iraqi provinces, including the provinces of Kurdistan, to choose representatives in the House of Representatives for a new parliamentary session in the fourth elections in Iraq after 2003.
In the current election, there are 7376 candidates representing 320 parties and 322 seats in the next Iraqi parliament, which will elect the prime ministers and the republic.
Of the 37 million people, 24 million are eligible to vote.
The special voting process for Iraqis of the Diaspora and members of the security forces at home was held on Thursday and Friday
