China rejects US charges of forcible technology transfer

(Encyclopedia of this Day News | Iraq News ) - Direct: China 's dispute settlement body informed the World Trade Organization that the US accusations that Beijing has forced companies to transfer technology as a condition for doing business in China is unfounded.

Chinese Ambassador Zhang Xiangzhen said at a meeting of the body on Monday that there is no forced transfer of technology in China, according to Reuters.

"According to the United States, China compels US companies to transfer technology by imposing requirements for joint ventures, foreign stock limits and administrative licensing procedures," Zhang said.

"But the fact is that nothing in these regulatory measures requires the transfer of technology from foreign companies," the Chinese ambassador to the World Trade Organization (WTO) said.

Zhang said Washington's argument on the subject included "presumption of accusation," pointing out that the US trade representative believes that US companies in China face a commitment to technology transfer, but did not provide a single proof.

US President Donald Trump accused China of stealing US intellectual property and announced a plan to impose tariffs on Chinese goods worth $ 50 billion.

The two sides filed legal complaints at the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the case earlier this year.

Last week, the United States announced a tariff suspension with China to find a solution to end the trade dispute between the two sides.
