President Trump hosted his first Ramadan breakfast during his presidency to mark the holy month of Ramadan.

The event was held in the White House's official dining hall, continuing the tradition of Republican and Democratic presidents.

Trump received members of the diplomatic corps, including ambassadors representing Muslim-majority countries, to attend the Ramadan breakfast. He said, "To each of you and to Muslims all over the world: Ramadan Mubarak."

"While we enjoy a wonderful dinner at the White House, let us strive to reflect the blessings, virtues and good intentions that characterize the month of Ramadan," he said.

The Muslim population in the United States is estimated to be 3.45 million in 2017, or 1.1% Of the total population of the United States. The figure is expected to double by 2050, according to the Pew Research Center.

Ramadan ends in the United States on the evening of June 14.
