    The Director General of Basra Oil Company Ihsan Ismail, on Wednesday, the end of Iraq's conversation with Exxon Mobil, to build a giant water treatment plant.
     
    "Iraq has ended talks with ExxonMobil because the major oil company is building a giant water treatment facility," Ismail told reporters on the sidelines of the OPEC meeting in Vienna. "It is a vital project for the OPEC member to increase its capacity to produce crude."
     
    He added that "instead, the Basra Oil Company will grant the joint sea water project through a tender process is expected to be completed by the end of July," noting that "the company has already selected a short list of three companies for the contract from the list of the initial seven companies" .
     
    "The project will be able to handle five million barrels per day of sea water, with the possibility of increasing this to 7.35 million barrels per day," he said.
     
    The Basra oil company, according to press reports, in discussions with Exxon on other projects in the south of the country, including the development of oil fields Ben Omar and Artawi oil fields.
