    The Ministry of Planning announced on Wednesday that the rate of inflation during the month of August declined by 0.8% compared to the previous July, revealing a slight increase in the annual inflation rate by (0.4%) compared with the month of August of the year 2017.
    The official spokesman of the ministry, Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi, in a statement received by "Economy News", "The Central Bureau of Statistics followed the indicators of inflation throughout the country during the month of August through a survey of prices for goods and services, and the results of the survey showed that the index of August 2018 (0.2%), the Tobacco Section (1.4%), the Clothing and Footwear Section by (%), (0.8%), household equipment and maintenance (1.4%), health and transport (0.2%),Contact by (2.8%), Department of recreation and culture by (2.7%), Department of Education by (2.4%), Department of restaurants and hotels by (0.6% Department of miscellaneous goods and services) increased by (0.7%). "
    Al-Hindawi said that "the index of inflation declined during the month of August by (9.0%) from the previous month, while the inflation index basis for the annual rate of (0.7%) compared with the month of August 2017."
    Al Hindawi said that "the annual inflation rate during the month of August 2018 to (0.4%) compared to the month of August was 2017, the index then (104.6%)," noting that the annual increase resulted from the registration of the Department of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.2 (70.5%) in the annual rate of change. The changes are due to the increase in the number of vegetables (14.3%).
    "The decrease of (0.9%) contributed to (-1.4%) in the annual rate of change, while the clothing and footwear section decreased by (0.7%) contributing by (-9.8%) in the annual rate of change due to the low prices of clothing group (2.1%), contributing (-137.4%) to the annual rate of change due to the decrease in the rent group by (2.6%) and the maintenance and housing services group by (0.1%). (5.3%). The Household Equipment and Maintenance Department also recorded a decline of (1.7%) contributing to (-24.0%) in the annual rate of change due to the low prices of the group(3.2%) and Household Appliances (0.9%).
