Integrity investigates fundraising in Baghdad schools

Baghdad / ... The Department of Prevention in the Integrity Commission on Thursday recommended the importance of the Ministry of Education and the Office of the Inspector-General to direct the directorates of education in Baghdad and the provinces to activate the role of the people of the Parents Council to supervise the work of parents 'and teachers' councils in all schools.
The Department, in a report prepared by its investigative team, met with the Assistant Inspector General of the Ministry of Education and visited the Kairouan Secondary School for Boys to verify the accuracy of the information contained in the report of a satellite channel and monitored by the Integrity Center, Called for the organization and follow-up of the work of parents 'and teachers' councils; to explain the system No. (1/1994) and to introduce its provisions; to ensure the application of the legal provisions for accepting donations and contributions and regulating their disbursement in a fundamental manner.
In its report sent to the Office of the Minister of Education, the team pointed out that the administration of the school, which has a total of 613 students, confirmed that the Parent and Teacher Council is working in cooperation with the Department and organizes its work through periodic meetings and records of meetings and donations, The Board determines the amounts of contributions and their disbursements under purchase receipts.
He added that "the collection of donations and contributions are through the Parents and Teachers Council, pointing out that the role of the administration is limited to identify the needs of the school; the lack of financial allocations, which leads to recourse to the Council to meet those needs.
The report pointed out that the Parents and Teachers Council that the parents of the students unanimously agreed to donate each of them in the amount of fifty thousand dinars; to equip the school with smart saws and maintenance of the stadium, received the contributions of seven parents of students, and returned to donors after the publication of the news, pointing The legal basis for collecting donations from students is the No. 1 (1994) of the Parent and Teacher Councils.
