Iraq's ambassador to Ankara, Hussein Mahmud al-Khatib, called on Turkish businessmen to seek business and investment opportunities in Iraq.
This came in a speech during an awareness campaign for Iraq organized by the Izmir Chamber of Commerce in western Turkey.
Khatib pointed to the mutual trust between Turkish investors and Iraqi citizens. "We want to look for jobs and investment in Iraq, and we offer investors all the guarantees," he said.
He pointed to the existence of ties of brotherhood, religious and cultural relations and the relationship between Iraq and Turkey, in addition to the existence of common interests.
"The deepening of trust between the two sides, especially during the last year, and increased frequency of mutual visits, and support for Turkey's territorial integrity of Iraq played a role in the development of those relations."
He expressed his expectations for a meeting between the heads of the two countries in Baghdad after the Turkish local elections scheduled for the end of this week.
