The cabinet decided on Sunday to allocate 500 million dinars to three provinces that have been hit by floods and each province will be at risk of flooding.
"The Ministry of Finance has allocated 500 million dinars to the provinces of Basra, Maysan and Wasit," a statement by the council, read by NAS, said today (March 31, 2019).
The statement added that "allocations will also be for the provinces that are exposed to the reserves of the amounts approved for the emergency reserve," noting that "the allocations come for the purpose of providing immediate needs to prevent the risk of floods or floods, according to the provisions of Article 5 of the budget of 2019."
Iraq's provinces bordering Iran have been in danger of flooding in the last few days because of the Iranian waters, prompting Tehran to tell Baghdad that it is unable to control flood waters due to the fullness of its tanks and dams, which will damage the border areas, most notably Diyala and Sulaymaniyah.
