The Arab states have "lost most of their resources and plans in search of more weapons and the building of armies," said Omani Foreign Minister Yousuf bin Alawi. "Stability in the region is the most important thing," he said.

In an interview with CNN, Bin Alawi said the problem of the region, the Palestinian-Israeli crisis, had not been resolved, adding that it must be resolved, pointing out that the Arabs should live in peace with Israel.

Asked whether the minister believed the time had come to normalize ties with Israel and whether he had red lines, he said, "I think we have exceeded normalization, Israel needs to live in peace with the Arabs, and the Arabs want a Palestinian state."

Yousef bin Alawi said last Saturday that the Arab countries should take "reassuring" measures for Israel to feel secure in its Arab environment, to put an end to decades of wars between the two sides.

This came during a speech at the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa "Davos Forum", which is hosted by Jordan for the tenth time, in the Dead Sea.

Of course, as everyone knows, Israel was founded after World War II, of course, between the victors of World War II and of course this was the source of the conflict between Israel on the one hand and the Arab countries on the other. And this conflict gained momentum and transformation of the wars of 1948, 1967 and 1973 and therefore we had a series of wars and then saw the Daash and al-Qaeda light, and of course different types of conflicts and wars.

"We are now looking for new ways and new possibilities that will contribute to the stability of the Middle East and the development of the region. But we may not understand why Israel occupies the West Bank, occupies the Golan Heights, occupies Gaza and Sinai, liberates Sinai and ends its occupation of Gaza. Golan and the West Bank, and we wonder why? "

"The Israelis were able to get everything from the international community, from political support to economic support and military support, which means that, in essence, they have all the ingredients to put pressure on the trigger and get all the sources of power."

"I think that this is a pivotal point that we would like to lay down and consider when looking at other things, Israel, despite all its strength, and all that we have said is not reassuring to its future and it does not feel safe because it is not an Arab country and lives in an Arab and surrounded environment," he said. And I think we as Arabs should consider this and we also need to put an end to these fears, and this must be done by taking real procedures and agreements between us as Arab countries, "as he put it.

The Omani minister met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and discussed a number of issues and issues of concern to both countries and the Omani role in support of the Palestinian cause.

Netanyahu visited Oman late last year on the first visit by an Israeli leader to this level since Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin visited in 1994 and Shimon Peres in 1996 when he was acting prime minister. The two sides signed an agreement to open representative trade offices.
