    Range/Baghdad

    Iraqi
Airways, announced on Saturday, its flights to London from next month,
with the thrice from the airports in Baghdad and Sulaymaniyah after a
hiatus of more than 23 years, the sale of 200 a ticket so far for these
    flights.

The Director General of the Iraqi Airways Company Saad
Al-Khafaji told the Agency (UBM) and seen by (range), that "flights
between Iraq and United Kingdom will begin March 5 next three flights
per week after a hiatus of more than 23 years", stating that "these
flights will be from Gatwick airport in London to Baghdad and
    Sulaimaniya in the Kurdish region."

    Khafaji added that "Iraqi
Airways used Airbus 330s newly purchased to conduct direct flights from
London to Baghdad and a trip to Sulaimaniyah in each week," the company
aims to increase its flights to six flights per week in mid-June.

    Khafaji
said "about 200 tickets were sold within the new flights, which were
distributed among the Iraqi expatriates and businessmen."

    Sources
close to the Iraqi Airways Agency (to travel) specialized in London of
Iraqi flights are running sales of these tickets in the United Kingdom,
as the price of the journey five and a half hours £ 470 for economy
class and £ 1400 for business ", and indicated that all flights will
fall for an hour at the airport in Malmo in Sweden and to facilitate
security checks before entering the flight to the United Kingdom",
adding that "Sweden has Many of the Iraqi nationals in the diaspora ".

    Iraqi
Airways was announced on 29 January 2013 contract to buy 50 aircraft
type Boeing 737 and Boeing Dreamliner 787 plus two intercontinental
incidental manufacture from Airbus, while the Transport Ministry
confirmed that Iraqi Airways will additional lines flights to many
    countries around the world.

The Transport Ministry assurances on 16/11/2012 that Iraqi Airways began recovering debts Kuwait.

    The
Kuwaiti Parliament approved, on the 22nd of January 2013 by
overwhelming majority the Convention on liquidation of debts of Iraqi
Airways, stressing that the Council referred the Decree-Law Convention
    to the Government for ratification.

    Iraqi Airways has suspended
its flights to a large number of European countries after Kuwait lawsuit
regarding damage to aircraft caused by the Iraqi invasion in 1990,
demanding payment of 1.2 billion dollars for Kuwait Airways.

    And
Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations have recently made progress in terms of
resolving some outstanding issues, as agreed during the visit of Prime
Minister Nouri al-Maliki to Kuwait in March 2012, to end the issue of
compensation for KAC and the maintenance of border markers, as was
agreed on the basis of common frameworks for the resolution of all files
within the timelines short, except Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, who
accompanied Al-Maliki to visit that what has been agreed is substantial
progress with regard to exit Iraq from Chapter VII.

    Subsequently,
Kuwait announced on 3 April 2012, will the reopening of the line to fly
to Baghdad in the coming days for the first time in more than 21 years,
I returned it the culmination of efforts between the two countries to
    strengthen relations.

Kuwait sent a formal letter to Iraq at the
beginning of November 2012 prove to settle the question of compensation
owed by Iraqi Airways to pay the last $ 500 million for Kuwait Airways.

    The
Foreign Ministry announced in (October 2012) to the Emir of Kuwait
officially agreed to settle the issue of compensation to Kuwait Airways
incurred under Iraq, bringing all constraints and complexity of efforts
to rebuild Iraqi Airways and freedom in buying new and create air fleet.

    Following
the decision of the Kuwaiti Cabinet approved on 20/11/2012 allocation
of $ 500 million in budget year 2013, to settle the issue with Kuwait
Airways, while empowering the Prime Minister's Advisor for Legal Affairs
    by negotiation and agreement.

Iraq signed in May 2008 the first
contracts with a company (Boeing) to buy 40 planes, and the second with
the Canadian (bombardo) to buy ten aircraft, with the Ministry of
finance showed that the total value of the contracts amounted to five
    billion dollars.

Canadian aircraft deal sparked a wave of
objections by lawmakers in the Iraqi Parliament, accusing the Council of
Ministers to intervene to buy planes to Iraq, and charges in this deal
as advisers to the Iraqi Prime Minister accused of using their influence
    to profit from this deal.
