Businessmen: Amending the Integrity Law will destroy the investment system in Iraq

Iraqi businessmen, in a letter to the three presidencies, called for amending the draft law of the Integrity Commission as currently proposed, stressing: "The draft law as it currently hurts the economy by hitting investment in the country."
The businessmen said in their letter: "We have seen a copy of the draft amendment to [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/85619/%D9%82%D8%A7%D9%86%D9%88%D9%86 %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D8%B2%D8%A7%D9%87%D8%A9]the Integrity Act[/url] , and we were surprised that there are some paragraphs proposed that we will kill investment, but will strike and destroy the investment system in Iraq, and will lead to the migration of capital abroad."
They added: "The paragraphs of the bill confirms that any businessman or investor will be held accountable and required to document their sources of access to his money, with thousands of investors who have been working since the 1960s and 1970s. How can they document 40 or 50 years old?" .
The businessmen expressed surprise at the absence of support for the private sector draft law of the Integrity Commission, which was confirmed by the Iraqi Constitution in Article 25 of it.
They called for hosting a number of heads and members of unions and economic organizations representing the private sector to discuss the law with the legislative and executive bodies and address some of the paragraphs that will be extortion, threatening and bargaining for investors and the private sector.
