    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Sunday (June 23, 2024), Representative Amir Al-Maamouri revealed what he described as “shocking” operations carried out by real estate plundering and counterfeiting networks for 15 years.
Al-Mamouri said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “oversight performance in combating corruption is no less important than combating terrorism, as both are enemies of the people,” pointing out that “what we revealed in Babylon during the past months is shocking due to the accumulation and penetration of corruption and the significant depletion of its options.”
He added, "Forged real estate papers worth two billion and 500 million dinars were seized in Hilla," pointing out that "following up on this file revealed the contexts relied upon by forgery networks to plunder real estate 15 years ago, which caused losses estimated at at least more than one trillion dinars." He considered that "real estate networks need a real deterrent because we are facing another scenario of plundering land and money."
He pointed out that "the entire file was submitted to the Integrity Department for investigation, but what is more important is to re-evaluate the situation and reveal all the houses, lands and real estate owned by the state that were illegally controlled," indicating that "what we have revealed is a small percentage of the secrets of what has been happening in Babylon for many years." .
Earlier, the Integrity Commission announced that the Babil Governorate Real Estate Department had the highest percentage in accepting bribes in Iraq, reaching more than 47%, followed by Karbala Governorate with about 40%.
