Baghdad - People
The White House revealed, on Wednesday night, Thursday, the features of US President Joe Biden's strategy to combat terrorism, many of whose points must be related to the Middle East.
Biden's new strategy, according to "Sky News", and "People" followed him (March 4, 2021), emphasized confronting terrorist organizations such as Al Qaeda and preventing the return of ISIS to Syria and Iraq. It also stressed working with regional partners to deter Iran and its aggressive policy.
The Biden administration said the goal of this strategy was to calm regional tensions in the Middle East.
The security strategy called for resolving armed conflicts in the Middle East that threaten regional stability, referring to the two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, while affirming commitment to Israel's security and promoting peace between it and the countries of the region.
The new strategy considered that military force is not the appropriate response to the region's challenges.
The disclosure of the features of this new strategy comes after the "New York Times" newspaper reported that Biden imposed restrictions on drone attacks outside conflict areas, as part of counterterrorism operations.
Under the new policy, the US military and intelligence services are required to obtain approval from the White House before launching such attacks.
