    BAGHDAD - Mawazine News,
    Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission Judge Jalil Adnan Khalaf discussed with the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations in Iraq for Political Affairs and Electoral Assistance, Ingebjurg Solron Gisladottir, on Wednesday, preparations for the upcoming elections. 
    In a statement received by Mawazine News, the Commission stated that “Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Judge Jalil Adnan Khalaf received today the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Special Representative in Iraq for Political Affairs and Electoral Assistance Engyborg Solron Gisladottir, accompanied by the UNAMI Senior Adviser, Dr. Amir Aryan, and attended the meeting. The commissioners, each of: Judge Fayyad Yassin Hussein, Judge Amer Musa Muhammad, and Judge Ali Rashid Muhammad. 
    She added, "The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners welcomed Ingiborg and congratulated her on the occasion of assuming her duties, expressing his happiness that her visit to the commission was her first activity in Baghdad." 
    She added, "There was talk between the two parties about the various procedures that the Commission is undertaking, in the framework of updating voters' data and regarding the dates for registering political alliances and receiving lists of candidates, as well as clarifying the nature of the challenges that the Board of Commissioners seeks to overcome, including with regard to elections abroad, in order to achieve maturity. The expected electoral process; and affirming that the date of holding the elections on 10/10/2021 is inevitable and binding based on the provisions of Article (8): First of the Elections Law No. 9 of 2020. "
