The Ministry of Oil clarified, on Tuesday, the basic criteria for concluding contracts with international companies, while indicating that priority is given to employing national workers in all its contracts.
The ministry’s spokesman, Asim Jihad, said in an interview followed by the agency, “The Ministry of Oil is keen to employ national workers and give them priority in all contracts concluded with international companies, especially with regard to licensing rounds,” indicating that “these contracts stipulate the employment of more than 85 percent of Iraqi workers.”
He added that “national workers in the Rumaila field, which is one of the largest oil fields, have reached more than 90 percent,” indicating that “the ministry, in its contracts, emphasized the issue of giving priority to national workers, and international companies are committed to that.”
He added that “the ministry concludes contracts that stipulate the companies’ commitment to employing workers and adopting international standards regarding public health and the environment, in addition to providing occupational safety for workers.” End/25[/size]
