Alsumaria News - Special
Due to the absence of supervision by the Baghdad Municipality and the loss of control, the violations on sidewalks and street prohibitions began to increase significantly, especially in the commercial areas in the heart of the capital, Baghdad, to the point where the driver of the vehicle was unable to stop his vehicle near the sidewalk because the shop owners had placed parking barriers, although the law prohibits that.

There is great dissatisfaction among citizens due to these actions, which have forced many of them to abandon their vehicles and rely on buses to get their work done, due to the lack of designated places to park their vehicles.

The citizen wondersMohammed Al-JabureSpeaking toAlsumaria News"Do shop owners have the right to put up signs on the street to prevent cars from parking???", indicating that "the street is considered public property according to the law and such an incorrect personal action is not permissible."

He added, "This situation has spread significantly, as the shop owner takes over the sidewalk, which is public property, and his encroachment has reached the street by placing a parking barrier near the sidewalk (a traffic light) to prevent cars from parking, under the pretext of cutting off his livelihood, as the car will cover the facade of his shop."

Citizen Wahab Ghaleb toldAlsumaria News"The lack of accountability by the municipalities of the Secretariat[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]"It has pushed shop owners to take over sidewalks and streets," he said, noting that "homeowners have also started to put up parking barriers as if they had bought the public street."

The citizen also confirmed thatHaider MajeedForAlsumaria News"No shop or home owner has the right to place obstacles in the streets or on the sidewalks," he said, explaining that "most shops fence off the sidewalks and obstruct citizens from walking, which forces them to take to the streets."

He stressed that "the trust[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]He is committed to the position of a spectator towards the transgressors without taking any deterrent action,” noting that “there is collusion between some of the Secretariat’s employees.”[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]With these transgressors."

honesty[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]It is carrying out major campaigns to remove encroachments on sidewalks in many areas, but there are encroachments in important commercial areas such as Karrada and Arsat Al-Hindiya that the Secretariat has not reached, as many citizens have expressed their dissatisfaction with shop owners who have encroached on the sanctity of the street by placing (bows) to prevent cars from parking, which is a violation of the law since the sidewalk and the street are owned by public money.
