Baghdad/Al-Masala Event: Reports indicate the existence of a pressure lobby in the US Congress working against Iraq, in coordination with Iraqi Kurdish parties, Iraqi opposition figures, and former Iraqi officials residing outside Iraq.
This lobby seeks to influence US policies towards Iraq, taking advantage of the strong relations between the United States and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The lobby is funded and supported by the Kurdistan Regional Government, and aims to pressure the Iraqi government on issues such as salaries and oil.
The visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani to Washington raised new tensions, as the Kurdish lobby tried to exploit this visit to its advantage, while al-Sudani sought to strengthen his external support to enhance the strength of his government.
In Iraq, Washington faces serious challenges, including confronting alliances allied with Iran and the possibility of military escalation against American forces in Iraq, while the relationship between the United States and the Iraqi Kurdistan region is strong and complex, and the United States remains an important supporter of the region, while Iran seeks to undermine these relations.
MP Mustafa Jabbar Sand said that such conspiracies must be deterred because they fall under the category of treason and collusion with a foreign country. Even our judiciary, in more than one round, has trusted the traps of others and their use of employees as human shields.
He continued: Just a month ago, the White House threatened to issue sanctions against the International Court of Justice if the court issued an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, escalating the exposure of the claimant of democracy and the claimant of non-interference of powers.
The statements of US Congressman Mike Waltz against the head of the Iraqi Judicial Council, Faiq Zidan, come in the context of political tensions between the United States and Iraq.
Waltz accused Zidane of being sympathetic to Iran, which sparked angry reactions from the Iraqi government, which considered these statements as blatant interference in its internal affairs.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry strongly rejected these statements, stressing that the Iraqi judiciary is the primary guarantor of rights and freedoms in the country.
These statements reflect attempts by some parties in the US Congress to influence Iraqi policy, in coordination with parties opposing the current Iraqi government.
