Baghdad/Al-Masala Event: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stresses the need to fortify the state and its institutions and enhance their effectiveness by the constitution and law.
Al-Masala publishes the text of the statement:
Today, Monday, the Prime Minister, Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, sponsored the official ceremony held in the capital, Baghdad, on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the 20th Revolution.
His Excellency stressed, in a speech during the celebration, that the making of history did not happen anywhere in this world as it happened here between the two rivers, indicating that, over the past hundred years of transformations and interactions, the roots of awareness are linked to the revolution of the twentieth, and to its idea from which the meanings of modern patriotism emerged. With its symbols, the founders of the concepts of combating the forces of colonialism and hegemony at that time.
The Prime Minister explained that by celebrating the 104th anniversary of this national popular revolution, we have renewed our adherence to the moment of pride in which it was born, so that the clans and personalities joined it, fulfilling the fatwa of the supreme authority at that time, and it was the spark that paved the way for the revolution.
The following are the highlights of the Prime Minister’s speech during the ceremony:
The current generation stood in 2014, under the blessed fatwa of His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid al-Sistani, may his shadow endure, in confronting the defeated ISIS.
The modern Iraqi state, in its institutional form, was born after the 1920 Revolution and its blessed sacrifices.
Today, we are united by a permanent constitution, a shining name for our country among nations, and a state that is proud of the blood of martyrs and fighters.
Today’s Iraq was built and sustained by all its societal factions.
The decisive role of our Iraqi tribes in the twentieth revolution emerged as a social component that contributed great sacrifices.
The clans still represent a gateway to security and popular cohesion, and a pillar of stability and confrontation of dangers.
The beacons that were lit by the twentieth revolution pass through the support of the state and its armed forces, and the extension of law, equality and justice throughout Iraq.
The people’s support, with their social and cultural elites, for the revolutionaries of the twenties, was through it seeking a state that preserves dignity and unity.
We have no choice but to fortify the state and its institutions, and enhance their effectiveness through the constitution and law.
Our celebration of the anniversary of the twentieth revolution is embodied in these tasks that the government has committed to completing sovereignty and ending the mission of the international coalition and any form of foreign presence on the land of Iraq.
We will not deviate from the mission of completing sovereignty as a goal of our government despite the challenges, supported by legislative and constitutional institutions.
